GOP Senator Mitch McConnell fell on the ground during a Senate lunch with Wyoming Senator Jim Barrasso. Barrasso, who is a doctor, said that McConnell was fine after the incident. Medical care aside from the Wyoming Senator did come to McConnell’s aid, briefly. Reports say that the only injuries to the 82-year-old Senator from Kentucky are cuts on his face and a sprained wrist. This is the latest medical episode centered around McConnell. He suffered from polio as a child and has admitted how difficult it can be to walk in specific situations, such as climbing a flight of stairs.

In 2019, Mitch McConnell suffered a fall in his kitchen that resulted in a fractured shoulder. In 2023, the Senator fell and suffered a concussion at a Downtown D.C. hotel. This caused him to miss weeks of work. Upon his return, McConnell froze on camera twice, having to be led off by aides and/or whoever was nearby. McConnell acknowledges his advanced age and decline and had already signalled his resignation from Senate leadership, effective at the end of this year. Commentators and regular citizens alike, however, would like for McConnell to resign from the Senate entirely due to all of the public displays of his decline.
