Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has been removed from the Donald Trump “election interference” case. This ruling comes as a Georgia Appellate Court overturns trial court judge Scott McAfee’s prior ruling. McAfee, who previously worked under Willis, allowed Willis to remain on the case if she removed Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade. All of this back-and-forth court action comes as a result of numerous improprieties committed during the attempted prosecution of President Donald Trump. The biggest issue here was the relationship Willis had with the Special Prosecutor.

Fani Willis hired Nathan Wade in 2021 to assist her in the investigation of President Donald Trump with regard to election interference in the 2020 Presidential Election. What she did not reveal, however, is that her and Nathan Wade were involved romantically. This is an issue because hiring a romantic interest could be a conflict of interest. There is also the obvious financial question that this raises. District Attorneys are not allowed to benefit from their cases financially beyond what their salary is. Nathan Wade was paid upwards of $700,000, which is far beyond the next highest paid person that Fani hired, who only got around $100,000.
