Democratic House Rep Jasmine Crockett recently attacked Republican House Rep Byron Donalds for being married to a white woman. The popular Texas Democrat made the comments during an episode of “The Breakfast Club” alongside host Charlamagne. She said that “not all skin folk are kinfolk”, meaning that not everyone who shares your skintone has your best interests at heart. Crockett then referenced previous comments Donalds made about the Jim Crow era being a better time for the black family. She said that maybe his marriage to a white woman has convinced him that he is “white washed.”
This is an odd thing to say for a 44-year-old woman who has never been married and has no children. It is also odd for a Democratic House Rep to say when so many of her colleagues are in interracial relationships, such as the most recent Supreme Court Justice, Kentaji Brown-Jackson. However, Jasmine Crockett’s comments come as no surprise as racism has been a central pillar of the Democratic Party since their inception.
