Sunny Hostin of “The View” appeared on a podcast and stated that voter ID laws are not only racist, but also sexist. The conversation was about MSNBC contributor Elie Mystal’s new book about “bad laws”, one of which being voter ID laws. She agreed with his stance, stating that many black Americans and other impoverished people do not have driver’s licenses because they don’t have cars. She also stated that women are affected by voter ID laws due to having outdated identification because of name changes after marriage. The reality on the ground, however, is much different.

People who live in poor and/or inter-city areas use their identification more often than people who live in other areas. If someone wants employment, to live in certain housing, and access Government benefits, they must have identification. People who are unfamiliar with people outside of high-crust society don’t really understand how they function beyond what is written to them in books. And, far too often, books are written by people who don’t know what they’re talking about either. Blind leading the blind.
