An elected official in Chester, New York, has been hit with several charges after he opened fire on a lost DoorDash driver. John J. Reilly III, the 48-year-old Chester Superintendent of Highways, initially fired a warning shot as the DoorDash driver was leaving the property after a failed delivery. The driver, a young migrant from the West African nation of Guinea-Bissau, was going door-to-door to find the correct house for his delivery as the app most likely did not direct him to the specific home in the secluded neighborhood.

Since this incident happened at night, any visible signs of an address outside of the homes were all but invisible. Reilly was the last home’s door the driver knocked on in an attempt to find the correct one. The homeowner, John Reilly, came outside with a weapon strapped to his back and another one in his hand. As the man drove off, Reilly fired one warning shot and then at least two more as he continued down the road.
