Elon Musk went to Twitter (now known as X) to vent his frustrations about Trump’s “big, beautiful” bill. The billionaire referred to the Congressional spending bill as massive, outrageous, and disgusting abomination. He also criticized those who signed off on it and pushed it forward. Musk has been critical of the bill for a while now, previously saying that it would undo all of the hard work that DOGE has done to reduce Government spending.
The spending bill is, of course, just one issue on top of mountain of many that Musk has to worry about. Another problem is the xAI data center “supercomputer” located in Memphis, Tennessee. The building is located in a heavily industrialized part of the city on the edge of the Mississippi river. Some of xAI’s neighbors include a steel mill and an oil refinery.
Local residents say that xAI’s 33 methane gas turbines and insatiable desire for water is causing heavy pollution. People complain of a foul smell in the air and breathing problems. There is also a concern of water quality, as the center sits atop a natural aquifer. Local politicians have assured residents that the center is being monitored by the proper health authorities.
Elon Musk’s xAI has invested $12 billion dollars into the facility without requirements of tax incentives that the area’s previous tenant, a Canadian-owned factory, required back in 2014.
