Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani has won the Democratic Party’s Primary Election in New York City’s mayoral race. He will face off against current NYC Mayor Eric Adams in the General Election come November. Mamdani pulled off what many consider to be an upset victory over three-time New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Mamdani’s views are seen as very far left and radical as he wants $30 per hour minimum wage, free buses, and taxpayer-funded gender treatment for minors. Eric Adams calls Mamdani a “snake oil salesman” who will say anything to get elected. As New York City’s young voters become more and more socialist, Mamdani’s victory shouldn’t come as a big surprise. What will be a surprise, however, is the reality of the policies promised vs what will actually be implemented if Mamdani becomes New York City Mayor.
