As Christians worldwide mourn the death of influential California pastor John MacArthur, who led Grace Community Church and the “Grace to You” ministry for decades, a 20-year-old video of a TV appearance featuring the minister debating then-San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has surfaced.
On CNN, the two are discussing Newsom’s decision to order the San Francisco city clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
“I would just like to ask the mayor: As a practicing Catholic, do you believe the Bible is the word of God?” asks MacArthur.
