META CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced plans to fight online censorship by replacing standard “fact-checkers” with a “community notes” system similar to X (formerly Twitter). This announcement represents yet another innovative feature X/Twitter started that other companies have integrated onto their social media platforms. Two key things Musk’s X/Twitter have come up with that others have taken are the paid subscription for verification model and the content monetization system. Facebook now offers content creators money for all posts, including text and pictures, just the same as X/Twitter.

The idea behind removing fact-checkers on META and replacing them with community notes is to drastically reduce political bias. When Facebook relied on third-party organizations for fact-checking, the result was heavy censorship tied to the ideology of the fact-checker. Community notes work well on X/Twitter as a form of crowd-sourced system of bringing fact-checking and to provide full context behind posts for clarity. The same effect is desired on META platforms.

Zuckerberg boldly announced in a five-minute video that the past four years have been difficult because of the Government. This is a direct dig at the Biden/Harris administration. The leftist puppet regime extends even beyond the President, with the Hunter Biden laptop story being suppressed by the Government before Biden took place. And, of course, the reason behind the laptop’s suppression was to protect Biden. Without the need to protect a high-level political individual, social media companies will face less pressure from the Government when it comes to the censorship of content.
