Has new scanning confirmed the location of Noah’s Ark?

A researcher hunting for evidence of the biblical Noah’s Ark now says his data from scans of a mountain in Turkey show that there are “tunnels” inside a land formation long considered a possible resting place.

A report at Fox News explains the researcher is Andrew Jones and he told “Fox & Friends First” that he believes this site near Mt. Ararat is the “real deal” after hundreds of searches for the Ark over many years.

“I do believe that this is the real, decayed, buried remains of Noah’s Ark, the famous ship. And we’re doing our best to convince the skeptics and show the world this site,” he said.

Mt. Ararat in Turkey also is known as Agri Mountain, and previously has been examined, along with other locations nearby. Some searchers have claimed to have found evidence, such as pieces of wood that appear not to be in a naturally occurring location.

“Our new research has shown that there are tunnels about four meters down and about two meters high, going down the center of the boat and on the inside edge of the hull shape,” Jones claimed. “We really believe that this layout, showing tunnels and also possible support beams and walls, would suggest that it’s a manmade object and not just a natural formation.”

Geologists have been to the site and say it is nothing more than a hill.

But Jones contends the dimensions of the site align with the biblical measurements documented for the Ark, and “the soil inside the formation showed remarkable results in testing.”

“We have the ship shape, and we’re in the right location, and now we’re also seeing that the soil inside is different from right outside the formation. So we have three times more organic matter found inside versus right outside. So it’s a distinct object and not just part of the mountainside,” he said.

He said his next effort will be to try to send a robot into the tunnels to gather images and collect samples.

WorldNetDaily reported as long as nearly 20 years ago on a fine point many Ark hunters overlook. While they all head to Mt. Ararat in Turkey, the Bible’s description of the landing place for the Ark is the “mountains of Ararat.”

Genesis 8:4 indicates: “And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.”

The reference could mean the named Mt. Ararat, but it also could refer to a wide region.

WorldNetDaily reported back in 2010 that two archaeologists who have been involved in searches have discounted claims made then that the Ark had been found.

“To make a long story short: this is all reported to be a fake,” said Randall Price, director of Judaic Studies at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, at the time.

“This is not Noah’s Ark,” added Bob Cornuke of the Bible 0Archaeology Search and Exploration Institute. “This is a fake. It’s a fraud and it’s of the highest caliber according to what I can assess from the evidence and talking to eyewitnesses and people from Turkey.”

The comments were responding to reports that Chinese and Turkish explorers with Noah’s Ark Ministries International claimed to be 99.9% sure they found the Ark on Mt. Ararat.

They said they found pieces of wood at an elevation of 13,000 on the mountain.
