Elon Musk has floated the possibility of Americans receiving DOGE “stimulus” checks of $5,000. The money would come from Government spending savings that DOGE creates from exposing waste, fraud, and abuse. Donald Trump has come out to say something different from Elon but along the same page. Trump may give Americans 20% of DOGE savings. It is unclear if the checks would go to every man, woman, and child or just to specific eligible American citizens. If DOGE gave every American $5,000, it would cost somewhere in the ballpark of $1.6 billion, which is a lot more than the $100 billion or so in reported DOGE savings.

The Democratic House Rep from Texas, Jasmine Crockett, does not like this idea. She says we are not in the business of giving money out. This is an interesting statement to say since she supports reparations for slavery and COVID stimulus checks. Crockett, during an interview about the potential DOGE checks, asked what $5,000 could do for someone if they lost their job. This is in reference to Government jobs that have been cut. The reality is that most Americans do not have $500 in savings for an emergency, so $5,000 could most certainly go a long way.
