New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced the pending closure of the current incarnation of the Roosevelt Hotel. This news comes on the heels of the Trump administration shutting border traffic of illegal aliens almost completely down, without the heavily lauded bipartisan border bill that Democrats wanted so badly. The once-iconic Midtown Manhattan luxury hotel has been used as a migrant shelter for the past two years. Damage done to the building is extensive and will require quite a bit of repair.
NYC has received 230,000 migrants in just about two years from the Southern Border. Many of these people have gone through the Roosevelt as an intake center. During a two-minute video released from NYC City Hall, Mayor Adams also announced that a total of 53 migrant shelters will be closed in the year 2025. Adams gave credit for the reduction of migrants into the city to the new policies in the city and the border, clearly giving a hat tip to President Trump.
