President Donald Trump will revoke the legal status of over 530,000 migrants from Haiti, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba. These migrants entered the country under the Biden/Harris administration under a program called “CHNV.” This program was designed to give legal status to migrants who would otherwise be in the country illegally. Their status, however, was always temporary. These people do not have permanent legal status, let alone citizenship. Since President Trump ended the program when he took office in January, the individuals here under that program need to leave. This change will take effect on April 30th of this year, giving these migrants plenty of time to get their affairs in order and self-deport. If the migrants refuse to self-deport, then ICE will pay them a visit and deport them by force.
