Former President Joe Biden has spoken out in an interview for the first time since he lost the 2024 election. During the interview with the British publication BBC, he revealed the reality of his final days as President. He also spoke about why he refused to follow through with his campaign some 100 days from the General Election, forcing Kamala Harris into the spotlight.
Biden was sort of matter-of-fact with the situation, saying that it wouldn’t have really mattered if he ran or not. He attempted to give Kamala some grace, calling her qualified… but the reality is that he could not succeed in the general and neither could she. There was no way forward for either one of them.
Biden said he dropped out late in the campaign, after the Primary Elections, because he thought they were doing such a good job and there was no reason to pump the brakes. However, what Biden did not mention is how much control that staffers and permanent government employees had over the administration.
Democrats should have taken proactive steps to find a suitable candidate to replace Biden by the 2022 midterm elections. Instead, they chose to kick the proverbial can down the road and deal with the monster that is a general election once it was upon them. The result was thrusting an unprepared and universally hated Kamala Harris out into the lion’s den where she, predictably, was torn apart.
