An Atlanta, Georgia, area homeowner was arrested after calling local police on squatters trespassing in her home. The Clayton County, Georgia, lawyer had been dealing with at least two women squatting in her home for quite a while. There had been a bunch of back-and-forth court action prior to the recent police intervention.
The most recently court decision ruled in the homeowner’s favor. The homeowner thought she had the right to evict the squatters after a court order, but that may not have been true legally. After removing the squatters’ items from the home the squatters allegedly broke into the home and moved back in. This is what sparked the police call that ended with the homeowner in handcuffs, in the back of a squad car. The reason for the arrest was that the homeowner did not have a specific piece of paperwork needed to conduct a legal eviction, although it was acknowledged by the court that the squatters were in the wrong.
