Modern-day NBA basketball has slowly devolved into an unwatchable mess. Since 2012, ratings for the league have dropped by 48%. Meanwhile, the NFL and other sports are surging. WWE wrestling has actually overtaken the NBA in ratings and viewership this season. The ratings spiral the league has found itself in is a far cry from the 1990s peak during the reign of Michael Jordan. There are quite a few reasons why the league is in its current condition. The style of play (chucking three-pointers all game), the lack of stars, the questionable officiating since the expansion of sports betting, and an underlying feel of left-wing wokeness all contributed to such an epic collapse.
